TRIP with Beth Malcolm

Glasgow-based six-piece TRIP bring their blend of trad melodies and original tunes to the Concert Hall. Their powerful, driven and distinctive sound unites the Celtic traditions of Scotland, Ireland, Northumbria, and the Isle of Man; a reflection of where each performer is from. Top-line members Michael Biggins (accordion), Isla Callister (fiddle) and Tiernan Courell (flute/whistle) combine with a dynamic rhythm section of Rory Matheson (piano), Alasdair MacKenzie (guitar) and Craig Baxter (bodhran) to celebrate the band’s traditional roots and showcase their contemporary, cross-genre influences.

Joining TRIP on the bill is Beth Malcolm, a Perth-born singer-songwriter and keyboard player. Beth’s music is folk-inspired, and she performs a mix of traditional, modern and self-penned Scots songs. In 2022, she won BBC MG ALBA ‘Scots Singer of the Year’, and in 2023, she released her debut album Kissed and Cried, earning her a 5-star review in The Scotsman. “Blown away by her voice. Absolutely fantastic.” (BBC Radio Scotland)
