Celtic Connections 2024

Four of the finest voices in New England’s traditional music scene, the Pine Tree Flyers make their Celtic Connections debut to shine a light on the tunes of the Northeasten United States. All residents of Portland, Maine, Katie McNally (fiddle), Emily Troll (accordion), Owen Marshall (guitar), and Neil Pearlman (piano) cut their teeth playing for contra dances and learning from the greats. Individually, they’ve toured the world playing Irish, Scottish, and Quebecois music. Collectively, the Flyers are hitting their stride in their first year as a band, proving that their musical heritage is as vibrant and vital as any American folk tradition.

Equally at home as accompanist or melody player, Anna Massie is one of Scotland’s foremost guitarists. As well as being a skilled multi-instrumentalist renowned for her work with Blazin’ Fiddles and RANT, she is also a saught after producer and presents BBC Radio Scotland’s award-winning flagship trad music programme, Travelling Folk. Tonight’s gig will see Anna showcase material from her long-awaited new solo album.
