Orcadian folk quartet Fara lead a night of collaboration across borders, cultures and genres. Fara’s 2022 album Energy Islands saw the band explore the part that their native Orkney plays in the fight against climate change. In this special performance celebrating the power of cultural exchange, they invite artists from some of the world’s richest music traditions to reflect on this theme from their own perspectives. Featuring Fara favourites from the past decade like you’ve never heard them before, alongside an extended line-up with guest appearances from world-class artists, and accompanied by new arrangements written especially for the occasion and played by Scotland’s brand new string ensemble Thirteen North. Expect a night of thrilling, unique and diverse musical collaborations, showing that the connective power of musical collaboration makes the distances that divide us merely geographical.
With impeccable musicianship and an infectious joie de vivre, Genticorum are amongst the most distinctive voices in traditional Québécois music, seamlessly melding fiddle, flute, accordion, guitar, foot percussion and voices. Recipients of four Canadian Folk Music Awards, and with Juno and ADISQ nominations, the trio are one of Quebec’s leading traditional groups, having carved a formidable presence amongst the international traditional, folk and Celtic music scenes over the last 20 years. Known for their boundless energy and stage presence, but also for refined and precisely executed arrangements, they have performed nearly 2,000 concerts in 20 countries, and at countless festivals around the world.
