Hawktail & Väsen and Córas Trio

The music of the experienced Swedish folk duo Väsen has been foundational to the members of US instrumentalists Hawktail. They avidly followed and played it as teenagers and continued as they moved through their musical education and early professional careers.

Encountering these young musicians at festivals, Väsen quickly recognised Hawktail's talent. Following an application by Väsen to the Swedish Arts Council, two collaborative tours (one each in Sweden and the US) soon followed.   

This set, honed from those first tours, combines original tunes already established in each band’s repertoire with freshly composed music for the collaboration. 

Väsen is Olov Johansson (Nyckelharpa) and Mikael Marin (Violoncello Da Spalla and a Blue Electric Viola). 

Hawktail is Brittany Haas (Fiddle), Paul Kowert (Double Bass), Dominick Leslie (Mandolin), and Jordan Tice (Guitar).
