Sing Waulking Songs with Catherine Tinney
Waulking was the end stage in homespun tweed production. A group of women and girls would rhythmically beat the cloth on a hard table, to shrink and soften it. Waulking songs would be sung throughout the process – with one woman singing the verses and the others joining in the choruses.
Gaelic Singer, Catherine Tinney leads this interactive workshop.
There are two other Waulking Songs sessions on Saturday 18th January with Joy Dunlop and Sunday 26th February with Kaitlin Ross.
