Cradle a cosy brew and listen in as Celtic Connections musicians chat about music and creativity.
Deirdre Graham takes a look at the stories and themes behind Scottish Gaelic songs, in a continuation of her Gaelic Song Stories podcast series, inviting the audience into he heart and soul of the Gael and giving a deep sense of connection to Scottish culture, family and heritage. Since the release of her debut album, URRANTA in 2020, Deirdre has risen in prominence in the Scottish folk music scene, performing across Scotland, undertaking collaboration projects, turning her hand to guest presenting on BBC Radio Scotland’s prestigious show ‘Travelling Folk’, and was appointed as Assistant Musical Director for BBC Alba’s Cèilidh na Bliadhn’ Ùire (Hogmanay show).
Sian comprises three of today’s most exquisitely gifted young Gaelic singers - Ceitlin Lilidh, Eilidh Cormack and Ellen MacDonald. With direct connections among the singers to Lewis, Skye and North Uist, their arrangements match deep feeling for traditon with stunning, boldly imaginative harmony work, which has seen them likened to The Staves and even Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
This is a rare chance for audience members to learn more about the unique life stories of the people behind the music. Come and listen with a cup of tea and a wee treat!
