As part of Celtic Connections 2009, for the first time ever, a three day Gaelic film festival (sponsored by MG ALBA) will be staged at the CCA. It will celebrate the creative talents in the Gaelic film and television industry through the screening of 12 films supported by presentations by leading film makers, access to Gaelic film archives and much more. Full programme details will be announced on 11th December.

Celtic Connections has been honoured with an award in recognition of its contribution to Scotland's tourism industry, with the festival winning the Events and Festivals - International award at the Scottish Thistle Awards!

Celtic Connections will screen Béla Fleck’s award-winning film Throw Down Your Heart on Monday 19th January, followed by a Q&A session with the legendary banjo player himself. And it’s free! This film inspired the concert featuring Oumou Sangare, Toumani Diabaté and Bassekou Kouyate which takes place on Saturday 17th January.

Just announced: Edwyn Collins, Karine Polwart and Sharon Shannon have joined the bill for the Jamaican Burns Night featuring Sly and Robbie, and the evening will now feature dub versions of the music of Collins’ iconic Glasgow group, Orange Juice as well as specially arranged Burns songs.
